This Is How To Open A Wine Bottle Without A Corkscrew
It would appear to be a very simple process to open a wine bottle without a corkscrew. Just look at this video to learn how:
Well, if you watched the video you could see that a shoe is used to cushion the blows as the bottle is struck against the stone wall.
I assume the wine inside the bottle rebounds, like a ball would, with most of the energy used to propel the bottle onto the wall. That energy is then transferred into the cork when the wine strikes it. The energy in the cork then moves it up the neck of the bottle where it gets dissipated as frictional heat generated by the cork rubbing against the glass.

Of course the British way is the simplest. Only buy wine bottles with “screw caps” and just unscrew them.
